According to wedding planner Emily Sullivan, “The vacation rental weddings give couples the opportunity to express themselves, provide a space where their guests can feel more relaxed and offer a distinct type of celebration. Not to mention, couples can stay there for their honeymoon, it’s a complete package.”
The cost of a typical hotel wedding can range from $10,000 to $60,000, depending on many factors. Conversely, a vacation rental can often provide the same amenities, if not more, for significantly less. Additionally, lodging for out-of-town guests is often onsite or nearby, allowing everyone to partake in the festivities without the hassle of travel arrangements.
However, transformed from the conventional norms, some challenges do arise. Not all vacation rental property owners are open to hosting weddings due to concerns such as potential damage, insurance coverage, and local regulations. Before couples get caught up in the romantic notions of a magical woodland ceremony, they should confirm whether their dream location is actually available for an event of this nature.
Understanding local zoning laws is also vital. Some cities have strict rules on how vacation rentals can be used and might have restrictions against large events like weddings.
